Of the 3 Tennessee state parks I visited in 2023 (the others being Burgess Falls and Rock Island), Fall Creek Falls State Park was my overall favorite! The multiple waterfalls were great, of course, culminating in the 256 feet main waterfall, but the hiking trails, landscape views and swinging bridge along the way were the perfect compliment to the experience.
The park is located a little more than 100 miles outside of Nashville in eastern Tennessee.
Cane Creek Falls is the first waterfall you encounter. It is a spectacle in its own right, only overshadowed by the knowledge that a 256 waterfall awaits. The amazingly picturesque and fun-to-walk-across swinging bridge above it leads to the Overlook Trail and 3 more waterfalls as well as cliff side views.
At 256 feet, Fall Creek Falls, the waterfall of which the state park is named after, is one of the tallest waterfalls in the eastern USA! It is a truly beautiful sight.
Another notable mention about this park is Rocky Point Overlook. The trail to this overlook is unexpectedly very difficult, especially compared to the easy walking of the main trail, but the view is worth it! Of the millions of people who supposedly visit Fall Creek Falls State Park each year, very few likely make it to this overlook given the difficulty even though it is not far off the trail early on in the journey.
